Last day of Heaphy to Karamea

Last day of Heaphy to Karamea
Ocean on the top west coast

Today we only have to cycle another 30km to get out of here. Even though the trail is stunning, I just want to get back into civilisation. First, our ways leads us through a wet rainforest. It smells fresh and the sun is shining through the palm leaves. The coast must be close as we hear serene seagull sounds.

The ocean looks beautiful. Seeing that much water makes me feel at ease with the past days. We have seen wonderful landscapes and this is just a great finish. After climbing the last hill, we reach an official road, leave the bikes, and go for a quick swim.

Happy Peter

Karamea is close and we dive into the Four-square to get steak and juice and dine gloriously right outside the store. The local Motel has space and we check in to the loving embrace of a freshly sheeted bed. The alternation between accommodation and adventure elevates both experiences.

Sadly, no hot water is available, but a free drink as reparation. We go to bed early and look forward to a recreational tomorrow.
